A Message From the Mayor...
It
is indeed an honor and privilege to serve the City of Wylie as the city's 45th
Mayor. Wylie is a town with a rich history that spans over 122 years. Our town
was established in 1886 and was incorporated on November 8, 1887. Today, we
have an outstanding school district with over 10,000 students; a historic
downtown area, that reminds us of our roots; growing commercial and retail
developments throughout the city; a city staff dedicated to the betterment of
our community and close to 40,000 citizens who have made Wylie their home.
We have many interesting things for you to enjoy within
our community. Wylie offers diverse shopping opportunities including the
specialty shops in the historic downtown area; a scenic, challenging golf course
at the Woodbridge Golf Club; outstanding library services for citizens of all
ages at the Truett and Rita Smith Public Library; parks and playgrounds for our
young families, and the young at heart; wonderful Thursday night concerts and
Friday night movies in Olde City Park during the summer months; and we close out
the year with our famous downtown Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony.
There definitely is something for everyone.
Your City’s municipal government provides a high level of
service including police and fire protection, water and sewer services, street
maintenance and garbage and recycling services to name a few. As a result of a
long-time philosophy of innovation, your local government leads the way in
providing services in the most efficient ways possible.
The residents of Wylie, Texas, can be assured that the City Council, staff, and
I are proactive in taking steps to maintain and improve the quality of life for
our residents. The community we have does not happen by accident. Positive
accomplishments are realized by the combined efforts of your dedicated City
Council, citizen advisory boards and commissions, community organizations,
business organizations, residents and our city employees.
Together, we will continue to work to make our community
a special place to live and work. We are happy to have you as a part of Wylie, Texas…“It’s
good to be home!”
For the promise of Wylie,

Eric Hogue
Mayor of Wylie, Texas
