In May 2000 Eric Hogue ran for Wylie City
Council, Place Three and won with 51% of the vote. The seat had been vacated
and was only a one year term.

After winning his first election in 2000, Eric
made the recommendation to put his opponent on the Planning and Zoning
Commission, noting that people with different views and ideas would be a
benefit to Wylie.

In 2001 Eric ran un-opposed and was elected to a
full three year team.

Eric adopts the public library to promote and
support as a councilman. He begins promoting the library with a monthly book
review and article for elementary age children in the Wylie News. With his
support, the library has a record number of children and adults sign up for
a library card.

For the next 5 years Eric visited all of the
Wylie ISD Elementary Schools promoting the Smith Public Library. At the
beginning of each school year, Eric would speak to all Wylie elementary
school children about the importance of reading and having a Library card
for the city's public library.

In 2003, Eric is approached by the Physical
Education Teacher and the Principal at Birmingham Elementary with an idea
for a walking trail and a joint school and city park behind the school. The
students had a program called "Walk Across America" and needed a safe and
secure place to walk each week. Eric worked with the city staff, who in turn
worked with the school district and the developer and the outcome was the
Joel Scott Memorial Park.

In 2004 Eric Hogue won his re-election bid with
nearly 70% of the vote.

In 2004, 2006 and 2007 Eric was chosen as Best
Councilman of the Year, by the Wylie News "Best Of" awards.

In 2004 Eric's first book, Clinky The Clown
and the Secret of Happyville is published. The book, which is written
for 9 to 12 year olds, focuses on loyalty, kindness, acceptance and how to
overcome prejudice in a positive way. Hogue donates a copy of the book to
each of the Wylie ISD elementary and intermediate schools.

In 2005 Eric represents the city council as the
speaker at all three city-wide town halls, to inform the public and answer
questions regarding about the 2005 Bond Program. All seven propositions were
approved by Wylie voters.

In 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006 Eric served as
Master of Ceremonies for the annual Wylie Christmas Parade.

In 2004, 2005 and 2006 Eric hosted the Harrison
Intermediate Red Ribbon Week Parade. This is a program that the school uses
to educate students about drug abuse.

2007 Eric does not run for re-election in order
to prepare for his run for Mayor of Wylie, Texas and to promote his goal for
the city, The Promise of Wylie.

February 27, 2008 Eric files the paperwork to run
for Mayor.

May 10, 2008 Eric Hogue is elected as Wylie's
45th Mayor.
